The establishment of the Singapore Olympic and Sports Council in 1947 paved the way for Singapore’s participation in international games. She sent her first competitor to the Olympic Games in London in 1948. Subsequently, Singapore has gone on to make their presence felt in the Asian, Southeast Asia Peninsular (later renamed SEA after it included Indonesia, Philippines and Brunei in 1977), the Commonwealth Games and other regional games.
