Winning an individual gold medal was the last thing on 18-year-old Lim Zhong's mind when he went to Brunei to make his Southeast Asia games debut.
He not only won the Singles and All Events titles in Brunei but his 2 gold feat also made him the unanimous choice for the Sportsman of the Year Award.
This makes him the youngest recipient of Singapore's highest sporting accolade, beating ex-national swimmer David Lim who was 19 when he received his Sportsman Award in 1985.
Lim Zhong spun a 224 pinfall score, one that not only landed him the All Events crown but also set a new SEA Games 24 game record score of 5,261 pinfalls.
