At the 16th FIQ Asian Bowling Championships in Doha, Qatar, 108 competitors from 17 countries entered for the Masters events, amongst whom stood the reigning World Cup and World FIQ Masters Champion, Ahmed Shaheen from Qatar. Andrew Fang, aged 21, bowled them over to take the prestigious Masters Event title and emerged as the first Singaporean to wear the crown of Asia's Bowling Champion.

To affirm his consistent form he won the Men's Singles title at The Singapore Nationals and the Masters' title at the Singapore Masters Cup in 2000.

His remarkable achievements were undoubtedly due to his immense dedication, discipline and commitment to the sport. He is an exemplary role model to his bowling peers.
