Lina Ong, the Asian Junior Champion of 1985, is one of Singapore's top squash players.
She won the Malaysian All Junior girls' title in 1984, beating the top juniors of East Asia and at the East Asian squash championships held concurrently, Lina was a key player in the Singapore women's team that emerged champions. She was also vital in the Dunlop-Ovaltine Salver contest between Singapore and Malaysia which the Republic won.
A former student of Victoria Junior College , 18 year old Lina received the Singapore Schools' Sports Council Outstanding performance Award for her numerous successes in squash last year. She was also a recipient of the SSC's Sport Excellence Assistance Program.
This is the second time Lina has won the Sportsgirl Award: she was the Sportsgirl of 1987.
