Good with Bowling Kids

William Woo's victory meant a lot to the Singapore Bowling Federation (SBF) with back-to-back coaching honours after Henry Tan claimed the award the previous year.

It also hailed Singapore as one of Asia's fastest rising bowling powers with its distinctive attention to youth development.

"They recognise that for the whole of last year we did win, besides the Asian Games, also the Asian Youth, the World Youth, the kind of medals that we have and the consistency we had, especially with the younger generation," said Woo, who won the Coach of the Year award in 1997.

50-year-old Woo, with co-national coaches Mervyn Foo and Henry Tan, led the keglers to one gold, three silver and one bronze at the Guangzhou Asian Games.
