Li Jiawei's partnership with Duan Yongjun has helped raise Singapore 's table tennis profile in the international arena. The pair has won several medals in the 2001 Commonwealth Championships Mixed Doubles title as well as a bronze medal at the 2001 SEA Games. All their efforts have resulted in their outstanding achievement in the Mixed Doubles title at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Duan Yongjun started competing in table tennis at the age of nine years. He donned the Singapore colors for the first time at 27 at the 1999 SEA Games and he went on to compete and excel in many other table tennis competitions which included gold medals at the Commonwealth Masters' Men's Singles event, SEA Games' Men's Doubles event, Commonwealth Championships' Mixed Doubles event and the Southeast Asian Championships' Men's Team, Singles and Doubles events, among others.
Li Jiawei has an outstanding career in table tennis. Her determination and perseverance had helped her to improve on her world ranking from 74th in August 1999 to 7th in January 2003. Besides winning the Mixed Doubles event, Jiawei has also contributed to the Ladies Team and Doubles titles at the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Duan's and Li's victory for the mixed doubles at the 2002 Commonwealth Games is permanently recorded in Singapore 's sports history at the SSC Hall of Fame.
