HALL OF FAME

The Singapore Sports Hall of Fame (SSC HOF) honors and commemorates Singapore 's top sportsmen and women. The outstanding performances of these exceptional athletes in the international arena serve to inspire our budding athletes.

The HOF inductees are presented with a trophy in the shape of a laurel wreath. In ancient Greece, the wreath, made of the leaves of a sacred olive tree, was a symbol of victory and was used to crown an Olympic Champion. The significance was attributed to the fame achieved by its winner who brought glory not only to himself, but also to his homeland.

Similarly, the laurel wreath presented to the Hall of Famers serves as a symbol of the athletes' sports prowess and acknowledges their contribution to Singapore's sporting glory.

Criteria for Induction

Individual athletes or teams who have achieved any of the following will qualify for consideration for induction into the HOF:
•  Olympic medal - any colour;
•  Asian Games - gold medal;
•  Commonwealth Games - gold medal;
•  World championships - gold medal/champion in a competition that has at least a four-star
   rating;

Other considerations for induction include the athletes’ distinctive contributions to sports i.e. they must have had represented Singapore for no less than eight years in international competitions, served as officials, coaches, administrators or other sports positions and had been perceived by the public as an icon for his/her particular sport in Singapore. He/She would have been a household name and served as a role
model for aspiring athletes.
